Summer Provolone Pizza

This is a tasty quick treat made using Summer Jo’s Chipotle Organic Pizza Crust. We started it with slices of organic provolone cheese and topped it with all organic ingredients which were just about all grown locally including the spices.

  • Provolone cheese
  • Yellow tomato slices
  • Clilantro
  • Arugula
  • Red Onions
  • Walla Wall Onion
  • Olive oil
  • Marjoram
  • Thyme
  • Garlic slices
  • Haas Avocado (California)

Great Veggie Burger in Ashland Oregon

burger-fixings-tnIn my pursuit for a great Ashland Oregon Veggie Burger I’ve had to pretty much make it myself. What better way to enjoy a vegetarian burger than to grill it? Just for a giggle I made sure to have a vegan tofu dog as well. As you can see in the images you could very easily make a (mostly) healthy organic burger dish with ingredients from the Ashland Food Co-op. Here’s what I used:

Grilled Crimini Mushrooms

  • chop some garlic and mushrooms
  • add a little bit of wine
  • marjoram and thyme (fresh from the garden)
  • wrap it all up in some tinfoil to grill.
  • Magnifique!

What’s to drink? A China Cola because I just can’t do the aspartame thing…

Just as a little aside – I wish the Frank and the Burger had NO soy as it is one of the most likely GMO products and there’s no guarantee they are truly organic. The only items worse in this category (or equally as bad) are Canola Oil (please stop using this), CORN (the ultimate sadness – almost all of it is pretty much GMO), cotton, potatos, tomatoes, crookneck squash and of course soon to be beets. Why are we allowing these harmful products to kill us? Look into it and you decide whether it’s greed, malice, ennui or mistake.

After vowing to never eat at Taj Indian Restaurant for reasons ranging from horrible customer service to bad food, we decided to give it another chance after learning they hired a new chef.

The restaurant (formerly the much missed Deeps) added some new items to the menu and so we started with the new lemon soup which was a thin lemony broth with peppercorn, garnished with cilantro. This had the most flavor out of anything else we ate on the menu. We ordered two entrees and requested them to be prepared with medium spice. The Alu Gobi which is potatoes, cauliflower & spices was so bland that we had to smother it with the green chutney. The Dal Mahkni was a bean dish that had decent flavor compared to the Aloo Gobi, meaning we didn’t have to smother it in chutney, but it was still very much nothing special. However, the most disappointing item at this Ashland Oregon Indian restaureant was the garlic naan. It was dry & flavorless and I have to say that I can’t recall a time in my life that I had such bland uninspired Indian food.

Taj Indian Restaurant of Ashland was devoid of any of the awesome flavors & spices that make Indian food so fucking interesting & yummy. It is with a yearning in my belly that I relagate myself to eating organic Indian food at the Ashland Oregon Co-op. At least there it’s organic and they seemed to have learned their cooking lessons well from what seems to be an authentic Indian chef. Alas it’s served in their buffet only once or twice a week.
